The girls of 2NE1 have been nominated for “World’s Best Group” and “World’s Best Live Act” at the World Music Awards.
The World Music Awards honors the best-selling recording artists from every continent. The World Music Awards are presented on sales merit and voted by the public on the internet. There is no jury involved and the awards truly reflect the most popular artists as they are determined by the actual fans who vote and buy the records.
The national member groups of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) provide the organization with the names of the best-selling artists from the major territories.
Previous winners include The Beatles, Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Bon Jovi, etc.
All the proceeds from the show go to the Monaco Aide and Presence Foundation, which assists underdeveloped areas mainly in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and Brazil.
