On October 2nd the Asia Pacific Actors Network better known as the APAN Star Awards were held, giving awards to the best of the best in Korean dramas. The ceremony was hosted by Shin Dong Yup and Honey Lee gave out awards to nearly 63 dramas that aired in September of 2015-2016.
The big winner of the night was no shock, for it has taken the entire world by storm. ‘Descendants of the Sun‘ took home five awards. The big achievement was the award for best drama of the year, which of course followed individual awards for the beloved stars Song Joong-ki and Song Hye Kyo. Song Joong-ki won the most prestigious award of the night: Grand Excellence Award. His beautiful co-star and him also received the Best Couple Award. He also took home the APAN Star Award as well, adding to the many awards in his collection.
Giving an acceptance speech during the ceremony, Song Joong-ki said:
“This is my first time receiving such a big prize and I don’t know what to do. ‘Descendants of the Sun’ has received so much love until now, but I wouldn’t be here if not for the hard work of my managers. There are also amazing senior actors here against whom I cannot even begin to be compared. I will work hard to show a good side of myself like my sunbaes from now on.”
