CL explained her thoughts about her song ranking on online charts.
She spoke at the interview for her first solo single The Baddest Female held on June 3.
When she was asked about her feelings when her song didn’t last No. 1 for very long, she confidently admitted that it was expected.
She explained, “I think it was bound to happen because there aren′t many women who like hip-hop. I, however, was able to hip-hop through this opportunity, and freely express my music in hip-hop costumes. I′m happy if anyone who′s been paying attention to me thought it was interesting.”
CL‘s song shows charisma and boldness that is uncommon to see from female singers in the K-Pop World.
The song has been receiving mixed reviews from fans. Some fans are happy to see a different style and change, while others expected the song to be more 2NE1-like and are unimpressed.
When she was asked whether or not she cared about the song’s popularity, CL added in, “I prepared the song, the music video and my performance with the thought that I would like others to enjoy what I like to do. I thought doing what I like and find fun would leave good memories with my fans.”
