While exposing her image into the music industry with her debut song 'I'll Back Off So You Can Live', G.NA received interest from the public before her debut. It is because of the fact that she was a former member of Five Girls with UEE, Yubin, Jun Hyosung, etc., including her activities in a CF with 2PM and being a back dancer for 4minute's Hyunah. But, among the female solo artists after Ivy, the fact that a singer with excellent singing and dancing ability came out caused her to gain attention from not only the public, but from celebrity representatives, too.

People who saw her first performance on the 15th at M! Countdown were surprised to see the birth of a large-scale rookie, and they are anticipating that she will blow a huge wind in the music industry if we wait a few more months. However, Gina herself still feels blank.

"To the point of not feeing enthusiasm, it feels like everything is progressing very quickly. Because I don't go online and because I don't have a phone, I didn't know what was happening in our society for a couple of days (except through my company, broadcasts, and at home). As I went to interviews, I wasn't sure if it was because I gained calmness, but I knew what kinds of comments I was expecting [from the people I met]."

Gina experienced accidents 4 times during broadcasts. First, Gina's ring flew out of her fingers as she was dancing on stage, which surprised her watchers, and second, her microphone pack fell out. Also, there was a time when her speaker wouldn't come out by all means. What's surprising is that regardless of the fact that she is a rookie, Gina easily passed through these situations. At that time, her company's representative said, "Although Gina is a rookie singer, she has a lot of calmness because she stood on many stages in the past." How did Gina think about this?

"There was always a problem with the noisy sounds. As a result, I started to use hand microphones instead of ear microphones, but a few days ago, the music timing was off and I lost my timing. So, my back dancers and I were embarrassed. We found out that there was no communication with the production crew. Out of the 5 broadcasts I had, 4 of them had an accident. But, my company was able to point this out and they encouraged me by explaining that all rookies made mistakes. This gave me strength. Because all these accidents were my first experiences, I had nothing to say."

Gina was born and raised in Canada, but she went to Korea with her mother when she was 19 years old for an audition. Although she wasn't familiar with Korean at that time, she went into an entertainment company and prepared her debut as a Five Girls member. Although they are called the 'misfortunate' group today, they were anticipated highly at the time. But, they were broken up and they disappeared from our memories.

"We were all sad and disappointed. Because we were preparing all those times, our frustration was large too. Also, we didn't say 'Let's break up', but we were just broken up all of a sudden. I heard the news first and I told each member, so we each went different ways. (After seeing the debut images of the other members,) I was glad that they were successful. As I watched how each member accomplished what they wanted to do under struggle, I felt more strength. Although I paused and asked myself 'What do I do? Will I be able to do it too?', I worried to myself. But, seeing the active images of the other members allowed me to feel that I can do it, too. I always cheered for my members. Of course I felt worried. When I see singers in their '90s come out, I get annoyed. I really wanted to show the fact that I practiced all these years. So, I wanted to do even better even though mistakes were made along the way."

The former members of Five Girls are fulfilling their roles as new members of a new girl group. During Gina's debut, each member sent her a video cheer message and personally gave her a call. Particularly, compared to the members' activeness in girl groups, Gina went solo. This put an even bigger load on her shoulders.

"I took the longest time to debut, and I was the oldest. Also, I was the team's leader with the lead vocals. Although I didn't know what the public thought about this, I couldn't show them my lacking abilities. There are some people that think, "UEE and Yubin both have personality and charm, and flew to the top, but what potential does Gina Choi have? She should just quit because she's old." So I wanted to work even harder."

Although Gina is a former member of Five Girls, she first gained attention from 2PM's music video and as Hyunah's back dancer. At that time, Gina gained more attention than 2PM and Hyunah with her striking body. Netizens even commented, "Hyunah should move so we can see her back dancer, Gina." Does Gina know about these reactions?

Yes. I know that. So, I felt more stressed. Although I can gain victory through music and questions like 'When are you coming out' and 'Everyone else came out, but what are you doing?', people continued to only look at visuals first. I was working hard to sing well, but I got annoyed that others were talking about other things [about myself]. Also, I believe that 2PM (whom I filmed a music video with), MBLAQ, Jokwon, and BEAST's Doojoon really supported me. Because of them, I felt excited that I began my start even though I felt the burden that I can't humiliate my company."

When a rookie singer comes out, there is a question that is never forgotten. It is the greediness for a rookie award. Although we can expect an obvious answer to this obvious question, she expressed her insignificant greed for it. Although Gina expressed her greediness for the rookie award, she started to look at it in another direction after her debut.

"I definitely wondered if I would receive a rookie award someday. But, my goal is to make myself known to others, and to hear that people think of charm and personality when they hear the word 'Gina' even if it's not to the point of being 'acknowledged.'
