With the release of the Wonder Girls new EP, 2 Different Tears, MTV Iggy wanted to share some behind the scenes photos from an exclusive photoshoot they did with us. Even though this was supposed to be a summer photoshoot, temperatures in NYC hit lows of 30 degrees complete with gusty winds! Regardless, the girls were excited and super polite complete with fresh new hairstyles for their comeback.
The photoshoot took place at DRIVEIN24 Studio where we used every single available service to hold interviews and three different photoshoots. Check out the super cute props we used — besides the sunglasses, I think I may have seen candy and an inflatable shark….
The newest member Hae Lim or Lim was the first to get her makeup and hair done. It’s hard for fans to accept a new group member and I had doubts myself but I’m sold. She has charisma and her English skills are amazing.
Lim was a complete natural at her first photoshoot of the day, even though we had her carrying a boombox that I know from experience weighs a ton, for a good portion of the shoot. What a trooper!
Only the Wonder Girls leader, Sun Ye or Sun looked pretty much the same with bangs and pigtails but there’s no need to fix what’s not broken, right? Fun fact: she forgot Junsu’s name during the interview when she was asked to name the 2PM members.
Can you believe Sohee is still only 18? She’s grown up so much since debuting in the Wonder Girls and the former maknae of the group was the moodmaker at the shoot. Her antics had everyone smiling, staff and group members alike.
Part 2
Yenny or Ye-Eun, the goddess, can do no wrong and she owned the photoshoot — no matter what she had to wear. Her long black hair is such an upgrade from the red she used to have.
I think the conversation went something like this:
MTV Iggy: “What is your special talent?”
Yenny: “I can read minds.”
MTV Iggy: “….”
My favorite! Yoobin! With hot new red hair! She looked a lot slimmer and attributed her new figure to more walking than normal. That does tend to happen when you move to New York City and realize all the cab drivers are crazy and the subways smell.
We asked Yoobin if she could do the zombie dance from 2PM’s “Heartbeat”. She flailed around a little before deciding she needed to keep her image as an idol intact.
Staff producer Woody Fu, let Sohee and Yoobin a.k.a Yoohee cheat off his question sheet. Just kidding, he’s giving them directions for their next interview.
Kya! How cute — synchronized head tilts.
Hae Lim and Sun’s laughs were 100% real during the shoot. Both girls kept swaying too far and probably would have ended up on the floor without each other’s support. Maybe there’s a deeper message…
You could really see how close the girls were in the group photoshoots. They worked off of each other’s energy and never failed to be upbeat. We used a ton of color and funky props but things like the Ring Pops and candy bracelets mysteriously ended up on staff members by the end of the night.
The queen adjusts her crown. I mean, Sun fixes her floppy hat.
The final set up for the day was against backgrounds pasted to the walls. Key word being pasted. After trying to remove the gold sticky sheet, we left massive amounts of glitter behind. Oops.
And that concludes the chronicles of the Wonder Girls with MTV Iggy! Check the blog for more exclusive Kpop coverage.
