This time we bring you what BTS would want to do if given a one day vacation, a time the members want to go back to, an unexpected situation that occurred one day, making leader RAP MONSTER distraught! We will reveal the hilarious content.
If time could be reversed……
——In 「WAKE UP」, the song has the lyrics , if you had an entire day of free time what would you want to do? Please tell us your ideal one day vacation.
RAP MONSTER : Wake up at 2 in the afternoon, play with my friends till 7, 8 at night, and then write til 7, 8 in the morning.
SUGA: I will sleep the entire day.
JIMIN: Me too!
V: Then so will I!
RAP MONSTER : Then, I will sleep too (laughs).
JIN: I want to go hiking.
——The only person who’s going out is JIN.
JIMIN : The rest of the people are sleeping~ (laughs)
——In the song 「THE STARS」, there are the lyrics , if you could turn back time what time would you want to go back to? Please tell us the reason.
RAP MONSTER : I want to go back to when I was 7 years old. But, if my mind is how it is now it’d be great (laughs). Back then my dream was to become a stationery store manager, right now I want to save up some money to open a stationery store.
——The thought (of working in) a stationery shop hasn’t changed.
RAP MONSTER : Yes. I still like stationeries, when I come to Japan I will also go check out a lot of stationery stores. Japan has a variety of stationeries, even if I’m just looking at it I’m happy.
——I see. What about JIN?
JIN: My most enjoyable moments were during my junior high school years, but I want to go back to kindergarten, when I was 5 years old. During junior high, there were already realistic problems like tests and exams and such, when I was 5 I was still at the park playing with my friends till sundown, my mom and dad would buy me Nintendo games and I would play with them whenever I wanted to (laughs). It really was an innocent time of not knowing anything, I think this point is pretty good.
JUNG KOOK : I also want to go back to when I was in kindergarten. Because if I truly did well in school from then, then it wouldn’t be so hard now (laughs).
V : I also (want to go back to) kindergarten. To be able to play with a lot of people together without qualms was a good thing.
J-HOPE : I want to go back to being a trainee, I want to practice things I couldn’t do before. If I can complete my practice albeit not perfectly, then right now I could show a more high-level and more brilliant performance. As expected, cumulative effort is important.
RAP MONSTER : J-HOPE is very serious (laughs).
J-HOPE : Not true, I’m already serious from the first place (laughs).
SUGA: I want to go back to junior high. That was my most exciting time, I was extremely happy.
——Then what about JIMIN?
JIMIN: I want to go back to high school. Because I started singing when I was in my first year of high school, I think it was a bit late.
RAP MONSTER : Isn’t it better if you go back a little more?
JIMIN : But, when I was in high school I was really happy. So, I want to go back a little bit before I truly started singing.
RAP MONSTER : Then go back to kindergarten (laughs).
When you’re down, the thing you’re definitely do is!?
——In the song 「THE STARS」, there are the lyrics , when everyone is dejected what is one thing you’ll definitely do?
SUGA: We’ve been together ever since we were trainees, so there has been so many dejected moments that it can’t even be counted anymore. Feeling down, or losing confidence and things like that, it all comes down to the effects of failure. If you want to overcome then you must be more focused, repeatedly working hard from square one.
JUNG KOOK : I will keep eating (laughs). If I eat yummy food my mood will naturally turn better.
——Out of all (the foods), is there a food that makes JUNGKOOK’s mood go up?
JUNG KOOK : Spicy foods. To put in simply, I like eating spicy foods, but it’s good for my metabolism, I will perspire a lot. So, it’s even better.
——What about V?
V : I will call my family.
——Will you bluntly state your condition (to them)?
V: No, I won’t say anything, I just ask “how have you been lately?” as if nothing’s wrong, casually chatting.
JIMIN: But, when you hear your family’s voices, won’t you be more depressed?
V: It’s okay. As long as I can hear my family’s voices I’ll be healed. If I tell my family about my depressing situation then my family will worry about me. So, in order for them not to worry, when we talk I will act even happier and more optimistic than I usually am.
——Manly! Then what about JIN?
JIN: Maybe it’s because of my personality, I rarely have any depressing moments. If I were really depressed, I would just sleep for a day and forget about it.
RAP MONSTER : This is the highest effort.
JIN: All in all, you can’t waste a day.
J-HOPE : I will also sleep. Because I can forget that moment.
JUNG KOOK : So, you’re half working (while at work) half sleeping (laughs).
——What about RAP MONSTER?
RAP MONSTER : (knocks over a cup, spilling the water in it)
All: Ah~ (laughs)
RAP MONSTER : Sorry.
JIMIN: An accident (laughs).
RAP MONSTER : When my mood is down, it’s really like how I feel right now (laughs).
V: This situation happens really often. (He’s) a leader who likes to joke around.
——I understand completely (laughs). Then, to remake the mood, what is your answer RAP MONSTER?
RAP MONSTER : When my mood is down I will compose music. Writing lyrics and thinking about the melody makes me forget all the hateful things.
——Is it easier to produce a song in difficult circumstances?
SUGA: It’s true that it is easier to write lyrics when you’re overwhelmed. But, it’s not because I’m depressed that I write lyrics, or because I’m happy that I write lyrics, or about being swayed by emotions, it’s that no matter what the situation is, you’ll still write lyrics, ideally.
——Then, when you see a member depressed, what will you do?
SUGA: Let him be. I’m not very good at giving advice, this isn’t a problem others can solve for him either. In the end only you yourself can solve the problem, I think this is the only way you can overcome that bump (in life).
——In the midst of business when JUNGKOOK sees his hyungs down what does he do?
V: (whispers softly) If only he knew……(laughs)
JUNG KOOK : Firstly when the hyungs are in a bad mood I won’t notice.
J-HOPE: (He) really won’t notice.
JUNG KOOK : Ah, I will notice sometimes.
J-HOPE : Not true, you miss it completely. (laughs)
——JUNGKOOK do you purposely ignore them, so boldly?
J-HOPE : JUNGKOOK has always been a slow kid. But, in my opinion, in the midst of busyness to be delusional is just right, it’s better if he doesn’t say anything.
JIMIN: If he notices, and wants to encourage his hyungs but they say, “You rascal, you don’t understand anything” then it will become an unpleasant situation.
——Chances are you will try to comfort them without knowing that it could possibly irritate them.
JUNG KOOK : That’s why, I just let them be and don’t bother.
——I see. Then what about JIMIN?
JIMIN: As expected being with your friends is best. “DAIBAKU” (laughs) (T/N: He’s saying daebak in a Japanese accent)
V: (smug look) “DAIBAKU” is a new word I created! In Korean “daebak”, it’s the same meaning as “yabai” in Japanese (T/N: Daebak and yabai both mean awesome or great)
——During your live you use it frequently as well. Then you must have some other BTS languages too right?
RAP MONSTER : “‘Scuse me”（すみまねん (sumimanen)）. When we hear the fans say “Love ya”（好きやねん (sukiyanen, Kansai dialect)）, we mix ‘scuse me with the Kansai dialect ending -nen（ねん）together. There’s no deep meaning.
——If someone uses those words, then they must be a BTS fan.
RAP MONSTER : That’s right! And then ARMY’s friends will increase more and more~.
V: Everyone please use (the language) in various places!
——Eventually in 2015 you will aim for the 流行語大賞 (T/N: An award for a new and popular key word of the year.)
V: Of course! Using “DAIBUKU” to win the big award!
JIMIN: It’s DAIBUKU (terrific)!
RAP MONSTER : And so, today we’re very “sumimanen” (laughs).
