As the snow piled up in the streets, fans lined up in anticipation on the stairs of the three floor club on Saturday, January 9th. Music blared from the speakers that were foreign to the club and local venue staff, but to others in attendance, the songs that filled the club are ones that commonly occupied their playlists. As Hallyu Entertainment staff started admittance, the Chicagoland area club—Medusa Chicago—filled up with fans ready to party.

The event featured a DJ playing various KPop songs ranging from SNSD’s ‘Gee’ to B.A.P’s ‘Young, Wild, & Free’ and BTS’s ‘Boy In Luv.’

The event proved to be a hit with fans wanting to let loose and party to their preferred type of music. “I have been waiting on this for years,” stated Kayse from Lombard, IL, “…all we get is K-Fest two days a year to be ourselves and be crazy. There’s got to be a place where we can go and dance to our music and [just] be us. Within five minutes of this event’s announcement, I had my VIP tickets bought.

HallyuCon Chicago’s very own dance instructors even ended up on stage, along with others from the audience.

The event even sparked interest in KPop for those that only attended in accordance with their friend’s requests, like one attendee who came all the way from South Bend, IN with his friends.

Although KPop concerts have become more common in various parts of North America in the last few years, this sort of event – for fans to let loose and dance to their favorite hits – is the first of its kind. Hallyu Entertainment has brought about a different way for KPop fans to party and enjoy themselves. They’re providing fans who can’t normally afford concert tickets an opportunity to experience live KPop and KHip Hop performances.
