Lovelyz are now anti-smoking ambassadors for the military and are hoping to decrease smoking rates in its ranks for 30%. The girl group will be featured on calendars which will hang in Army barracks next year.

Lovelyz will also be hosting a talk show which will be aired through a TV station under the Defense Media Agency; soldiers who have successfully quit smoking will be invited to join them on the program.

For soldiers currently residing at the Nonsan training centre, Lovelyz will be acting as personal K-pop counselors. There will be a special end of the year celebration with the girl group for the unit with the most soldiers who have quit smoking.

Recruiting K-pop groups have been the Ministry of National Defense’s latest plan in its campaign to cut back tobacco use. In May, it was announced that there will be a range of rewards for soldiers who quit smoking; the rewards consisted of cash prizes or recreation equipments for barracks.
