110225 "Like a twist in a movie, look forward to the twist in Dalmatian."
During the long days, they gritted their teeth but the preparation is finally over now. Rookie group Dalmatian is preparing a new round with their first mini album.
Although the members of Dalmatian endured a long period of training, they are already “prepared” rookies in having prior experience. Leader Inati was a former member of People Crew as Day Day is famous for being a rap teacher for groups like Miss A and 2PM. Daniel spent a long period of training with BEAST’s Yoseob.
In this mini album, six out of the seven songs involved Dalmatian in the production. Their first mini album after their single “Round 1” is more meaningful than ever.
“We always thought of ourselves as rookies and in the rookie state of mind, we practiced till late at night. With the release of our mini album, nothing changed. I think the only difference is that our determination is stronger than ever you can say. Other than that, nothing changed.” (Inati)
“It was an album we put a lot of work into. Of course, it’s not our last but we prepared it as if it were. You can say that this is our real beginning. We want to hurry and meet with our fans.” (Jeesu)
The members of Dalmatian officially geared up for promotions in participating in Lunar New Years specials as they showed off their variety skills before the release of their mini album. Especially Daniel who had a big role in shows such as KBS 2TV “Celebrity Marathon Competition” and MBC “Idol Athletics Competition.” Upon the mention of it, he bowed his head down in embarrassment as all the other members burst out in laughter.
“It really hurt my pride and I tried to match up to my seniors but it didn’t work the way I wanted to. They aired me doing 5 rounds of arm wrestling five times but in actuality, I had to 6. Later on, the health boy senior and the producer pitied me so they let me go. In the swimming competition, I think I was unlucky. My goggles strained my eyes and it was really uncomfortable. I also swallowed a lot of water. If there is another one next year, I’m confident I’ll win.” (Daniel)
In the lyrics of “Round 1,” they expressed their hardships and running to achieve their dreams but through the two title tracks “Lover Cop” and “The Man Opposed” in their mini album, they display sweet love songs. As a rookie, choosing two title tracks is difficult enough but mentioned in how difficult it was to choose in which none of the tracks were worth throwing away.
Upon bringing up the topic of their mini album, the members became excited as they began to talk about it. Not being able to even interrupt them, the members enjoyed talking about the mini album and it gave me the feeling that they seem like the people who want to always remain as a singer.
The songs “Lover Cop” and “The Man Opposed” were made through the discussion amongst the members. During their time of rest, they were watching the movie “Robot Cop,” giving them inspiration while the song “The Man Opposed” was about a previous love story of member Jeesu, the attachment to both songs being dear to them.
“Our music isn’t IQ but EQ. If we talked about dreams and hopes in our song “Round 1,” then in this mini album, then this album is full of songs which will stir up emotions filled with love songs. Through various ideas, we made new challenges.” (Dari)
From the eldest member of Dalmatian, Inati, to the youngest member Daniel, they are exactly 10 years apart. However, they said that they never feel an age gap.
“On stage, our leader hyung is serious like any other. He has a lot of charisma. However, normally, he’s a goofball.” (Youngwon)
“Inati hyung’s nickname is thirty. (Laughs). In a book store, there’s a book called the Mean Thirty Year Old. We’re going to buy it for him on his birthday. He’s normally really cute and whenever we try to eat something, he always says “It’s mine!” which is really cute.” (Daniel)
The members’ secrets about the leader continued. They said that whenever Inati takes a shower, he doesn’t like showering alone so he calls in the members as they sit on the toilet and talk to Inati while he’s in the shower stall, something you just can’t help but laugh at.
In response to this, Inati said, “I just want to grow closer to the kids. I want to talk to them a lot in the bathroom” and “Honestly, I get anxious when no one is there. I can’t sleep sometimes thinking that the members will leave me and run away,” creating laughter in the atmosphere.
The funny and refreshing group Dalmatian was asked what their goals were of this year. Jeesu said shyly, “I want us to win 1st on a music program” while Daniel said, “I want others to think of us when they hear Dalmatian rather than the 101 puppies.” Youngwon said, “I’m eyeing the rookie awards.”
“In the lyrics of our song “Round 1,” it says in English for the world to be ready for us and there are a lot of international fans that love Dalmatian as well. I want to meet them all, not just in Korea.” (Day Day)
The breed Dalmatian is known for their strong loyalty as they are often companions of fire fighters in America. The group Dalmatian also promised to stay loyal to their fans.
“If you like the songs of the loyal Dalmatian, then we will never betray our fans.” (Inati)
Never losing their laughter, Dalmatian was a bit more serious when revealing their resolutions.
“It’s a mini album but we prepared it as if it were an official one. It’s an album we worked hard in preparing 9 years for (*T/N: I think this was Inati saying this). Dalmatian is normally angels but on stage, we’re bad boys. We want to take a friendly approach to our fans. Movies and dramas without a twist is boring, right? (Laughs). Could you say that this is the ease of the strong ones? Continue to look forward to Dalmatian as we’ll have a lot of twists.”
Dalmatian who shouted “Fighting!” in confirming that they’ll never lose their rookie state of mind; look forward to their twist later on.
