2NE1’s “Hate You,” released on July 21, has dominated most of the major music-download sites, ranking top on their charts.
Following the previous three songs, “Don’t Cry,” “Lonely,” and “I Am the Best,” 2NE1 produced their latest and fourth hit song of this year, “Hate You.”
“Hate You” is an electronic pop dance song tailored to the latest trends and looks to be another hit song by Teddy among many others he has written for 2NE1. The lyrics feature a woman saying goodbye to her selfish boyfriend, using direct expressions that make even listeners feel much relieved: “I’m very unlucky to have met you.” “I feel sick.”
The music video was directed by popular pop artist Mari Kim in the form of powerful animation. Its teaser ad, which has already been already released, has raised expectations about the full-version of the music video, an interpretation of Mari Kim’s “Eyedoll” adopting the unique appeals of 2NE1. In the music video, the characters played by the members of 2NE1 combine their efforts to fight against a villain who attempts to destroy this planet. They seem to look cute, but they revealed the opposite appeal at the same time by displaying rough actions.
On July 28, 2NE1 will release its second mini-album, with the title song “Ugly.” In addition, they’ll hold their first independent concert, under the title of Nolza, or “Let’s Play” in Korean, on August 26 to 28.
