5dolls got a 'warning' from 2PM fans. Pictures of Jay Park in 5dolls' music video appeared online pre-release and then in the music video, they fall in love. There was also a scene where a 5dolls' member had to embrace Jay.
When asked if it must of been awkward to have these scenes on their first meeting they said, "We were more scared when the music video was released we'd get backlash from their/his fans."
Last year, the mixed group Coed debuted as 10 members with 4 female members, but they've gained a new member, Eunkyo. There was advantages of joining an already existing group, but there also can be burdens from fan expectations. Because of this, there was a need to practice a large amount of time before debuting.
It's unusual to have double title tracks for a rookie. 5dolls' had the hit-maker Brave Brothers' produced song, "Lip Stains" and also the song "It's You". By a small margin, "It's You" became the main title track for 5dolls' debut.
The members said, "Actually, we practiced 'Lip Stains' for more and a longer time before debut. But now for 'It's You', we can showcase more charms and have more delightful activities," they said.
Their team name literally means five dolls. They revealed there was several candidates for their groups' name including Girl Scouts, Ruby, and a lot of others they didn't want to say. But it seemed like 5dolls fit the best.
5dolls also made a change for their member's names. They now go by their real names instead of 4-syllable stage names. Soomi said, "The biggest difference between promoting as 5dolls and Coed would be wearing the sneakers instead of high heels. We can enjoy and have a more comfortable stage because of it," she said confidently.
5dolls fans were worried that after they made a debut, what would Coed do.
Hyewon said, "When Coed was made, unit activities were always the plan. Coed will never disappear. Right now it's only the female members, but the male members also are readying a male unit."
Chanmi continued, "When malicious rumors plagued over Coed, we weren't showcasing our skills correctly because of it. There was also problems for the distributions of each part in the song," she said, "but this time we have evenly split the roles of our skills and will be able to exert enough."
5dolls debuted 3 weeks ago and have performed well on various music shows. Hyoyoung said, "I've adapted to the stage. In the future, I will, as well as 5dolls, show you our hard working, brilliant choreography, and try to captivate the viewers' attention," she said determined.
