On the 25th of February, it was revealed that Beast would be unveiling the full MV of their debut Japanese single Shock (due to be released 16 March) today (26 February) via Tokyo’s Shibuya Q’s Eye screen and also via big screen in 5 major Japanese cities. They also decided to hold a Beast Expo with a 40,000 scale crowd at Tokyo Big Sight on the 26th of March and at Dojima River Forum on the 27th of March.
Korea’s beasts are finally landing in Japan. Their song Shock managed to get first place in music programs in Korea. The Japanese version of the song will be making a grand release with 4 different editions on 16 March, whereas the MV will be released for the first time today via big screen on the streets of 5 major cities in Japan.
On the Tower Records Japan Online Daily pre-order chart, the single Shock and the DVD Genesis of Beast (will be released on 2nd March) dominated the top 5 places on the 21st of January. Related persons stated, “Taking half of the places on the top 10 chart even before their debut is something really special.” , thus praising Beast’s pre-debut explosive popularity.
Beast debuted in Korea during October 2009. This group includes Lee Kikwang who debuted solo first under the name AJ. All the members have impressive vocal ability and dance skills, easily making them part of the top idol groups. In 2010, Beast won the Best Newcomer Award for the Seoul Music Awards and also won the Bonsang Award this year.
Last year in November, they held their first solo live performance in Tokyo. Although they had not officially debuted yet, 10,000 tickets to their performance worth 5000 Japanese Yen each were sold out in 10 minutes time. On the 18th and 19th of this month, 24,000 tickets to their encore concert in Korea were also sold out within 15 minutes, even causing the ticket sales servers to break down. Regarding this popularity, some people say that Beast may be hiding the possibility of surpassing TVXQ and Big Bang.
Towards their debut in Japan, leader Yoon Doojoon said, ” We want to show off Beast’s Korean self.” Jang Hyunseung said, ” Although it does not feel natural singing in Japanese, it will still be cute.” Beast will be someone to look out for in this year’s Korean music scene.
