[News] Gaon Chart TV to air in Japan
A television program that introduces the latest Kpop rankings based on Korea's nation music chart, Gaon, will be aired in Japan.
According to the Korea Music Content Industry Association (KMCIA), famed Japanese agency Digital Adventure will create a show that introduces Korea's popular tunes and music videos, as well as features interviews with artists based on the Gaon Chart.
The show will be hosted by singer-actor Kim Jeon Hoon and will start airing on broadcasting stations, BS Fuji and DATV in late January of next year. The first recording will take place at Yokohama's Pacifico Yokohama on January 9th.
Gaon is the first officially recognized music chart with data accumulated from online and offline sales statistics from the country's major web-based providers and record distribution companies.
A Gaon representative stated, "Kpop’s status is getting higher, globally. The export of Gaon chart to Japan will be the first step for Gaon to emerge as a global music chart like Billboard chart in U.S. and Oricon chart in Japan."
