As reported by Hello Online, After School sub unit Orange Caramel’s debut track “Magic Girl” bears a more than striking resemblance to Hello! Project J-pop idol group C-ute’s “Hare no Platinum Doori.” Whether or not “Magic Girl” is a cover of “Hare no Platinum Doori” has yet to be confirmed. But, the original producer of “Hare no Platinum Doori”, Tsunku, was not credited for “Magic Girl.”

Orange Caramel’s “Magic Girl”

After School is based partially on the Japanese girl group Morning Musume, who many fans call the “mother group of Hello! Project” that started it all. In MM the group matures through a system of graduations and additions of new members. This system then forms different “generations”. In the early 90s the creator of MM Tsunku thought of a way to increase the group’s already MAJOR popularity by having them divide their time between MM activities and participation in sub groups and solo acts. The majority of these groups were incredibly successful and helped Tsunku build his company, Hello! Project, into an empire. After School’s management,Pledis Entertainment, seems to be following in Tsunku’s footsteps with the creation of Orange Caramel and solo plans for AS leader Park Gahee. After School even covered MM’s most famous song "Love Machine” for the idol search TV show Dream Girl.
