What do Wonder Girls‘ Hyuna and Sun Mi, and 2PM’s Jaebum have in common?
SBS’ E!TV E!News Korea – Star Q10 will investigate the reason behind the various withdrawals within JYP Entertainment that seems rare among other companies.
Right after Wonder Girls debuted, Hyuna left the group due to medical reasons.
Sun Mi, another former Wonder Girl, left shortly after Wonder Girls’ US debut.
Park Jaebum, a former member of 2PM recently left the group and still makes headlines.
Park Joonhyung was the oldest member of JYPE’s million-selling group groove overdose. A scandal of him and a female celebrity arose, and JYPE was on the brink of making him leave the group — but fans came in and because they had stocks in JYPE, they were able to prevent this from happening. Eventually, Yoon Kyesang left the group to serve his military duties.
In 2007, female soloist Joo debuted. She easily gained popularity since JYPE was becoming increasingly popular with the Wonder Girls’ success. However, as she gained more fans, her past was dug up, revealing pictures of her in bars around people who were smoking and drinking, while she was underage. She recently made a comeback with a song for Cinderella Sister’s OST.
Min was a JYPE trainee when she was 12-13 years old. She moved to America and was to debut with Lil John’s help as a fifteen-year-old. She was doing shows and was trained in English, hip hop dance, and singing. Her writers included Chris Brown’s, but all of a sudden, she disappeared.
J. Lim was the most popular unsigned street performer before JYPE signed with her. She was considered the Alicia Keys of South Korea. With one album under JYPE, she went to America to make an American debut. She sang a duet with Outkast’s Big Boi after returning from America for a break, but stopped activities ever since.
G. Soul was supposed to be the next Usher. He sand R&B, and admired R. Kelley. Likewise, he, too mysteriously vanished from the music scene.
With so many cases of withdrawal, it doesn’t seem completely wrong to call JYPE withdrawals a habit.
E!News Korea – Star Q10, scheduled to air on April 7 at 8PM, is going to unveil everything from JYPE’s history to Park Jaebum’s activities in America. Keep an eye on Kpoplive for the release of this episode!
